Bought iHome iDM15 Portable Bluetooth Speakers for iTouch, iPod & Tablets at the apple store last week, same price. I think they work well with the ipad2 for general listening. The stand is very nice and sturdy. They are not loud but they have a full range sound. The bass is there but just enough to fill out the low tones. The bluetooth works well and easy set up. I like not having to plug the wire into the iPad anymore. The wire that connect the two is about 18 inches but it is a regular 1/8 inch jack on the ends, so you can buy longer one.

I am a speaker "connoisseur." Therefore, I know and have used many speakers before. The iHome iA9BZC Alarm Clock Speaker Dock is a great product for so many reasons.
1.) It is very small and fairly light.
2.) The system has a form of an operating system, that can be updated through your ipod or iphone.
3.) There are adapters so your generation or type of ipod/iphone will fit nicely.
4.) You can set 2 alarms, with advanced settings such as:
- the time
- choose weekends/weekdays for it to go off
- alternating buzzer or a choice of a digital am/fm radio station
- can set a volume for the radio alarm
5.) Day Light Saving setting
6.) there is an mp3/auxiliary jack on the back
7.) great sound quality for the price!
8.) Equalizer that changes:
- treble
- bass
- Turn off/on 3D sound
- 3D sounds fills the room
- gives the music for depth and quality
9.) easy to set up
10.) Digital clock and radio
11.) Change the brightness for the LED screen
The Sound:
The sounds is great for what you are paying for. The speakers can be heard from my room on the third floor in the kitchen on the first. The iHome has the great 3D sound setting and Reson-8 speaker chambers with a bass export on the back. Therefore, the speakers music fills the room and the bass has some punch. I have hooked up mine to my dual subwoofer, so the sound is phenomenal. I have actually replaced my old sound system for the iHome and my woofer! Though, these are small speakers, so don't expect to get too much bass with these. They are perfect for alarm clocks, but if you want to use it as a speaker system, use a subwoofer and attach it to the iHome via the 3.5mm aux jack on the back. A problem is that the treble can be a bit "tinny" for a few songs, but only on 3/300 songs on my mp3 player does that happen.
Overall:
I would recommend this product to anyone looking for one of the best alarm clocks on the market (especially for the money)! If you would like to use it as a speaker system, I would recommend adding a subwoofer, since the small size of the speakers tend to indicate less bass. This is probably one of the best products (that have to do with music) I have ever purchased.

I watched the video on Amazon that compared this speaker to two others.
It really is a great little speaker, especially for music and voice. We watched
some post season baseball on a laptop and the sound was amazing. Great
price on some of the speaker models, don't know why the others rate a $49 price tag.

This review is from: iHome iHM60GT 3.5mm Aux Portable Speaker (Gray Translucent) (Electronics)

I bought this speaker because I was going to travel abroad for a few months and I wanted to be able to listen to music on my ipod or laptop. So far I've been really impressed with the sound quality on this speaker. Although the speaker itself does not have a volume button, I've found that the volume of the music has never been too soft. I haven't needed to even set my laptop or ipod to full volume. It comes with a usb cable, which you can plug into your computer, for recharging purposes (the rechargeable battery is a great feature). It's quite small in size and perfect for travel. This is totally worth the $17 and I would definitely purchase this again.

Alright, before I tell you how awesome iHome iHM60L 3.5mm Aux Portable Speaker is, let me preface with this: I was the media supervisor (oversaw mp3 accessories) before becoming the Home Theater supervisor at Best Buy for 3 years. In that time, I demo'd every speaker system from hand-held battery operated to full blown 7.2 systems that passed through those doors. I'm a speaker guy--I spent $6500 on subs for my car. This little $20 speaker is more than impressive. I don't work for Best Buy anymore but if I were there, you can believe that I would sell 10 of these a week in the off season. The mids and highs from this little speaker are exceptional. When hooked up to the iPhone, the distortion in audio is only evident at max volume. Even so, the loss of audio is minimal and not enough to make you turn it down--that occurs when it's just too loud for the area you are trying to fill with sound. In the month that this speaker has been in possession, it has been used outdoors, as the system on my mountain bike, and the radio for our hotel while traveling. In all of these instances, the little iHome speaker was turned down just a tad because it gets so loud. I can't wait to try it out during beach season where we compete with the wind and other radios. The bass is still nice. Although the low frequencies do not "quake" the ways the mids/highs "tweet", for it's size and price, you are still getting more than what you deserve. The quality of audio for a portable speaker system is phenomenal. If you consider the size vs. other portable systems, it's mind-boggling. Most of the stationary iPod docks I've sold over the years don't even compare to the sound you get out of this tiny speaker. The battery life is great; we took it on a trip to a 2 night festival and didn't need to recharge it at all. I'm still using it off the same charge and it's had at least 8 hours of continuous play. The only con I've found so far is that since it's so small, when played at high volumes, the bass makes the thing almost jump off of hard surfaces. This cause the speaker to either move itself from where it was placed, or cause an unpleasing sound with your tunes. The couple of times this has been an issue (and one I really don't mind), I simply placed a piece of fabric beneath it to absorb the vibrations. I'm a speaker guy. If I had to choose a speaker to demo for people to "wow" them, I would normally choose my Eclipse Titanium subs. I now impress people with this tiny little speaker! This is going to be the gift I give to people until I find another phenomenal product to take its place. If you are looking for a compact unit with clear, loud sound...look no further. This thing is amazing. I would not be shocked if they were charging $80 for this portable system. It seems really durable, but we've only owned it a month. Short of falling to pieces next week, I can't imagine this product not receiving 5 stars from every user. Don't think about buying this product and just BUY IT. You will not be disappointed. Best portable speaker I have ever come across, no doubt.
***UPDATE 7/13/12***
It's been over a year and a half since I left this review. Since then, we have purchased several more of this speaker. A few of them are for ourselves (we always have one charged up!) and we have gifted a few. One of the models we purchased has color changing LED lights that make for a nice, calm visual during the evening. The original speaker that we purchased and first reviewed is still in 100% working condition! My sister left one of her speakers in her car and it got fried from the heat. We live in Florida and she probably had it on the dash or somewhere with direct sunlight and no ventilation. We have left ours in the car with no issue and also used them a TON at the blazing hot beach. We take a small beach bucket with us to put the speaker in while we're in the sand to help protect it and our iPhones from the elements. While in the bucket, the sound from the speaker is amplified considerably! We've continued to impress folks with these little speakers and still use them everywhere. They make a nice external speaker for computers and vehicles without audio systems. Anyway--amazing speaker and only $20; still in love. <3

"These could be your best speakers you have heard out of a device this small”

The iHome ID84 App-Enhanced Dual Alarm Clock Radio is a dual alarm clock radio for iPad, iPhone and iPod that lets you charge your iPad, Phone or iPod and lets you wake and sleep to either one, to a custom playlist, or to AM/FM radio. A Sync button syncs the clock to your iPhone (which is always current via cell phone towers) to set the time quickly. The iD84 allows you to set two separate alarms with different times on different days with our 7-5-2 feature. The iD84 also includes 12 AM/FM presets, EQ controls and 3D sound and Reson8 sound technology for an exceptional audio experience.

The iHome can function without a device plugged in, but the app makes this device so much more fun to use. Yes! You get an app! The iHome app allows you to add additional alarms (the clock has two, turned off by default), check the weather forecast, check sleep stats, + some more stuff. The alarms are fully customizable, allowing you to set a flexible repeating schedule, listen to music as you fall asleep or wake up, set the volume for the alarms, choose a nap or alarm type of alarm, set reminders, and post your sleeping habits to social media sites (I don't know why you'd use that, but it's there if you want it). The app is free so you could download it right now and give it a shot before committing to the device.

Product Features

  • Wake or sleep to iPad, iPhone, iPod, custom playlist, AM/FM radio, custom apps or buzzer
  • App-enhanced to work with free iHome+Sleep app or paid iHome+Radio internet radio apps

Great Unit, but the iPhone app is buggy, By Inphinity

Just got this today and played around with it for a while. I was thinking of buying the iP9 last week, but am so glad I didn't because this one has been listed on Amazon since then at almost the same price.

I've tested the alarms, which work as they should. While the unit itself has the 2 alarms similar to the older version of this (iP9), the app, which is free to download through the app store, can have many more alarms. The features I really enjoy on the app are being able to choose "bedtime" music, and choose specific songs to play to fall asleep to or wake up to, and you can even set the volume on your individual alarms. The app also has things like the weather displayed on the alarm screen, which is always nice to know when you wake up. What I also really enjoy about this when compared to the regular iPhone alarm is being able to set the time for the snooze. The unit comes with the docks to support multiple devices, but I like that I can also plug my iPhone in without there being a dock since I have a pretty thick case on my iPhone. Another great feature is that by the press of a button on the device, you can sync the time on the clock to match your iPhone time. The one con I have found in the few hours I've had this is that the time does not remain synced, but is not off by more than a minute (this is stated in the user manual as well).

Overall, the fact that I can set the alarms and more from an app makes this alarm clock definitely worth it. The sound quality is also really great and doubles well as speakers in the bedroom.

The app is called iHome+Sleep (FREE), and there is also another one that you can use to wake up to internet radio stations (iHome+Radio) which costs $2.99, although I haven't tried that one out yet.

UPDATE 11/29/11:
I've had this for a few months. I'm not as impressed with the App as I was at the beginning. I've found bugs in it and it's failed me a few times (luckily I was never late). The alarms on the unit itself work very well. Maybe I just haven't figured it out perfectly, but the app alarms haven't really worked smoothly for me. Regarding other things...I love the nap feature that is both on the app and the unit. Also to note, the alarm DOES go off when the phone is on silent.

I reduced the stars I gave it from 5 to 4 because of the app, but I still recommend this iHome, especially since the former version that has fewer features is more expensive now as it's being phased out.

Everything You Like About the iH Radios, but Without the GSM Buzz!, January 3, 2009
By C. Dewey "Dynamat Convert" (Greenville, SC)

This review is from: iHome iP9BR Clock Radio for iPod, iPhone (Black) (Electronics)
I had been reading about the IP99 for months but was unwilling to pay well over $120 for it. When I happened across the new IP9 for $79.99 in a local warehouse that starts with "Cost" and ends with "co", I thought I would give it a try.

The sound is slightly improved over my older IH5 and IH6 radios -- which is to say excellent for the money -- and so far I haven't heard the slightest GSM buzz. The iP9's 3D effect is richer than the Sony ICF-C1iPMK2's "Mega Xpand" feature. The overall sound of the iP9 is slightly warmer than that of the Sony but otherwise comparable. The Eq option is a big plus.

The one advantage the Sony has is that it supports an iPhone from the back via and adustable block. That somewhat negates the need for a dock insert. This is a nice convenience for people with an iPhone shell that is small enough to fit in a universal dock as you may not have to remove the shell to dock the iPhone securely. You NEED an insert on the iP9 as you would on any device with a universal dock on top and nothing substantial behind the dock. Fortunately, the iPhone insert iHome includes seems to work as well as an iPhone 3G Universal Dock Insert from Apple... and it's black! The iHome website currently states that the IP9 does not ship with an iPhone 3G insert but perhaps iHome wised-up.

The dual alarms work in a similar manner to the Sony. The 2-5-7 day setting is a plus. I have not used the snooze feature though it is supposed to be configurable. Our dogs do not allow us to snooze, in case you were wondering. At night, one big advantage for the iP9 is that the dimmer allows you to turn off the backlighting entirely. As anyone with a Sony will tell you, their dimmest setting is way too bright. The iHome's numbers are also a little larger.

I have read about some quality problems with the IP99 and am hoping that the IP9 is as solid as the IH5 and IH6 clocks I have had for a few years without any problems. The iP9 seems to be built more solidly than the Sony, particularly with respect the buttons. The dials take a little getting used to, but if you're tying to adjust the volume in a dark room they are much easier to adjust than the tiny Sony volume buttons, which have an annoyingly loud click. I also give the iP9's remote an edge because it includes a few more functions.

In summary, the iHome iP9 is a solid performer with an excellent attention to detail that puts it ahead of the Sony ICF-C1iPMK2, despite its more iPhone shell-friendly design.

Perfect match!, June 22, 2007
By Rachael Evans (Sewanee, TN)

I got this as a way to listen to my 2g pink nano while going to sleep. I was amazed when I plugged it in in the kitchen and my husband thought the stereo was on all the way from the living room. The sound is amazing for this tiny piece of equipment. The sleep feature is great and the dimmer for the lights is cool too. The fact that it doesn't have a remote is annoying, but the remote is 15 bucks on ihome's site. Since this is a great ipod accessory I will definetly be getting the remote to boot. I just wish it also came in pink.

perfect for dorm or party, not so much for the bass-lover, July 8, 2009
By isha whittaker (transiency, in the USA)

I absolutely LOVE this product. the color changing is sooo fun. I wish the color changing mechanism was capable of changing WITH the music. The "bass" sound is not amazing (I thought it would be because of the sub-woofer thing) and my '91 car stereo rumbles more than this does :( however, for a 5 inch box, it still has good sound, and is capable of being fairly loud. does not come with the chord attachement for MP3/cd plug in! must be plugged in to power source (no battery capability). All things considered (price, sound quality, etc) this would be a PERFECT "dorm" purchase! and I believe that's what the marketing/audio-decisions were geared towards. BUT if you want pristine sound and bass, you'd better be prepared to pay for it

Very tiny package with good sound, June 17, 2009
By R. Evans "RobEvansPhotography.com" (Rahway, NJ)
I had to give this product 5 stars mainly due to the size and sound quality. It is very small, much smaller than expected or how it appears on the website. The rubberized matt finish seems durable and feels good to the touch! Very well built little unit. As far as sound goes, it really packs a punch for a unit this small. I have other good quality mini speakers that are louder, but also much larger and 4 times the price. This unit only charges with a USB port, no AC adapter included(and no input for one either.) However the charge from the USB seems to last a good amount of time. We have listened to it for about 4 hours straight, at near full volume, then again the next day for about the same amount of time and it still seems to have a good charge. Great for vacations, especially if you have a portable USB charger or laptop... or can use the USB charging stations at some malls and airports. Length of charge still undetermined as this unit is still fairly new to me and I gave it to my fiancee. Distortion at the highest volume is there, however when you step back a few feet it is much less noticable and sounds more clear... or you can just turn it down slighty. Fairly clear sound and a nice little bass effect to boot(especially for the size.) I have very expensive taste in audio systems and this in no way will ever compete with a system or even a decent boom box. But for portability and travel, this tiny unit is excellent.

Everything You Like About the iH Radios, but Without the GSM Buzz!, January 3, 2009
By C. Dewey "Dynamat Convert" (Greenville, SC)

I bought this system for my 7 year old and liked it so much I bought one for myself. Works well with Sansa Clip and C250 using the patch cord that is included. Can't beat the sound for the size and price. Very easy to use, sound is awesome, you can put all your MP3 and accessories in the speaker case for storage. I love this product!

Good but has 2 flaws, September 30, 2008
By Gerald Zaks
Good size, good sound, good basic design..... but 2 problems.
1) The control buttons on top have raised designs to distinguish them, but not raised enough. So you hunt and peck for the right button in the dark searching to turn off the alarm. I've placed a very small blob of clear glue from my glue-gun next to the off button to find it more easily.
2) I have an older version of the iPod mini. Out of the 5 plug-in adapters for different iPods that come with the unit.... NONE of them are for the older version of my iPod mini. It still works... but I have to be careful plugging it in and taken it out and not bumping it when plugged in.
